Based in Cornwall and usually found in cold water, Sophie is passionate about the ocean and marine biodiversity. Sophie shares her pearl story with us and selects her favourite everyday pieces from the Once Upon A Pearl Collection.
“When I was 14, I was gifted a pearl on a surf trip to Fiji with Roxy, who were my sponsor at the time. It was a beautiful pink pearl on a simple chain and I still wear it now 20 years later. I was then lucky enough to visit Tahiti at 15 on a photo shoot and I’d had my heart set on a grey pearl ever since, but at the time I couldn’t anywhere near afford one.
I feel so gratified to finally own a couple of Tahitian grey pearls, and know that they come from an environmentally responsible company that respects marine biodiversity. My favourite thing about the Olivia & Pearl range is that it's also interchangeable, meaning I can wear the pearls on earrings, a necklace, or a bracelet, or I can wear the earrings just as plain hoops if I want a more minimal look.” – Sophie Hellyer
